Activities from 12 – 4 pm
Opening Ceremonies
Join us in the Shaikh Family Welcome Gallery at noon for opening remarks by Library Board representatives and Elder Adrian, followed by storytime with Mayor Jyoti Gondek.
Level 1
Spin the wheel and win a prize from our friends at the Library Store. Create a zine with Nicole Gruszecki, visit our selfie station, and consider what the land you live on means to you with activities from Sage and Cedar Art Therapy.
Level 2
Play Giant Jenga, build papercrafts, watch an animated film about Indigenous ways of knowing, and play traditional Treaty 7 games. Historian in Residence Shelley McElroy will also be sharing cool artefacts for junior museum curators to explore.
Level 3
Learn traditional Indigenous beadwork and game with friends on the Nintendo Switch.
Getting Around
Road closures will take place throughout the East Village on July 1 to facilitate festive activities, and 3 Street (in front of the Library) will also close from 5:30 – 11 pm for fireworks.
