Update to Library Services

On November 24, the Province of Alberta declared a state of public health emergency and announced new public health measures. A local state of emergency has also been declared in Calgary.

After reviewing, Calgary Public Library has made the following changes to operations, effective immediately:

Changes to Library Services

  • Cancellation of all in-person programs and events will continue until Monday, January 11, 2021.
  • Social gatherings are not allowed in locations. All group seating will be limited to no more than three persons. Exceptions can be made to accommodate larger households as needed.
  • Small meeting room bookings continue to be heavily restricted across the system and are limited to three people or less.
  • Group photography is not allowed in any Library location. (example: wedding photography).
  • No third-party after-hours bookings at locations.

Library locations remain open at regular hours. All locations continue to have limited public capacity that is below 25% of normal total capacity. All visitors should confirm guidelines and services available before visiting at calgarylibrary.ca.

Masks remain required in all locations and work areas. The Library continues to align with exemptions as identified under the City of Calgary’s Temporary Face Coverings Bylaw.

Helpful tips for visitors to the Library:

  • Try to limit your visit to under 60 minutes to ensure equal access for others
  • Explore our Digital Library to access hundreds of eResources, like ebooks, audio books, music, movies, online learning, and more!
  • Virtual programs for every interest and age are being launched each week.
