Level 0 at the Central Library

BMO Financial Group Community Room

This free, bookable community space is a vibrant hub for sharing knowledge among Library users. It reflects BMO Financial Group’s commitment to collaboration and their desire to benefit the city for generations to come.

LUKES exterior café

Refuel on delicious food with a local emphasis. This café, one of two in the building, is a collaboration between Gareth Lukes, the third-generation owner of Lukes Drug Mart, and Chef Eric Hendry, of the award-winning Calgary restaurant Bar Von Der Fels.

Michael Green Green Room

Michael Green (1957–2015), a driving force and visionary for Calgary’s arts community, co-founded One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre in 1982. As a testament to his legacy, the green room where speakers and performers prepare prior to entering the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall has been named in his honour.

Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall

Located at street level, you can see Library programming happening in the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall. Also an ideal location for large-scale events, seminars, conferences, and private bookings, blinds can be lowered on the large floor-to-ceiling windows.

TRIO by Christian Moeller (exterior)

Rocking back and forth in an endless motion, these three colourful sculptures move like a pendulum to create a visual choreography around the Library’s expansive outdoor plaza. Two pieces are located on the west side of the building, while the third is on the east side. TRIO is one of two public art commissions by Christian Moeller — visit FISH on the third level of the Library.
