Are your kids or teens heading back to school this fall? Check out the schoolwork help available from Calgary Public Library! Our free programs include in-person and online options for young children, teens, and parents, so there’s sure to be something for everyone. Here’s a list of what we offer:
This online tutoring resource is aligned with the Alberta curriculum for students in Grade 2 to Grade 12. Get expert online help with your homework from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Support for adult learners is also available.
Calgary's School System
This two-hour program for newcomers examines the school system in Calgary, including resources for children from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Learn how you can support your child’s education by understanding program choices, waivers and subsidies, report cards, and volunteer opportunities. It’s offered in Hindi and Mandarin, in partnership with the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth.
Embark on a math quest! Students aged six to 12 can explore the library while completing fun numeracy challenges. Caregivers are invited to stay and play, and all math skill levels are welcome. Math Quest is offered at 18 libraries; click here for more details.
Students aged 10 to 14 can drop in with their English Language Arts or Math assignments and get help from trained volunteers. Students will also be connected with digital resources that support school success. No registration is required. Use this online resource to access course lessons, reviews, and practice tests for students in Grade 3 to 12. Prepare for tests and final exams in Math, Science, and English Language Arts, through study guides and practice questions aligned to the Alberta curriculum.
Calgary Public Library has collaborated with Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District to expand our access to TumbleBooks! This online resource offers unlimited access to a collection of ebooks for young children, their parents, and teachers, including more than 250 animated, talking picture books, Spanish and French books, read-along chapter books, non-fiction books, and games.
