The Library Goes to Kindergarten

The Library supports school readiness and literacy through play!

Invite the Library to set up a booth at your Kindergarten orientation event. We will share resources for how the Library can support a student’s school journey.

We are able to engage families through stories, songs, art making, and games, if you request it. Kindergarten students receive limited-edition Library cards. This program is not suitable for preschool classes.

The 2019 Library Goes to Kindergarten Artist

Every year, the Library’s Children’s Illustrator in Residence designs a Calgary Public Library card just for kids entering kindergarten. Library staff at your kindergarten orientation night will sign kids up on the spot and hand out the cards.
