Book Discussion Groups

OVERVIEW

Foster a love of reading and build community by facilitating a Book Discussion Group for adults, teens or tweens at the Library.

PROGRAM GOALS

Contribute to engaging and inspiring discussions related to books and reading
Promote a love of reading
Build community around books and reading
Provide patrons with a space and forum for book discussion

LENGTH

Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer
90 minute program
Once per month
Dates and times vary depending on location

VOLUNTEER QUALIFICATIONS

Love of reading
Fluent in English
Strong facilitation and listening skills
Ability to create a welcoming environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to accommodate a diversity of backgrounds and skill levels

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete an orientation and training session
Support program goals
Facilitate book discussion group meetings
Commit to participate in the program for a minimum of one year

A two hour in-person group training
