ESL Writing Club

Overview

Help adults with an intermediate level of English improve their reading, writing and grammar skills. Volunteers lead a group of ESL adults at one of our Library locations.

Program Goals

  • Help adult learners improve their English reading, writing, and grammar skills
  • Position the Library as an essential language support for newcomers
  • Help the Library achieve its strategic goal of supporting newcomers
  • Increase awareness and use of library resources, services, and programs

Length

Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer
Six-week sessions
Two-hour programs

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Completed high school
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Positive attitude and reliable
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Volunteer responsibilities

  • Attend an orientation and training session
  • Be a positive role model for participants

Training

A four-hour training session to review program materials
