Make it Messy: Art

Overview

Help children aged six to twelve conduct arts & crafts activities. Library staff leads the program including storytime and team games. This program is for volunteers ages 15 and up.

Program Goals

  • Provide learning opportunities for children with an interest in art
  • Help children develop a love of reading through exposure to exciting books and stories

Length

Summer
One-hour program
Six-week sessions once a week
Dates and times vary depending on location

Volunteer Qualifications 

  • Currently in high school or post-secondary
  • Strong reading and speaking skills in English
  • Positive attitude, reliable, patient, able to stay on task

Volunteer Responsibilities 

  • Attend volunteer orientation and training session
  • Provide support to participants as directed by staff lead
  • Be a positive role model

Training

A one-hour training and orientation session.
