Overview
Library Ambassador Volunteers engage the public in outdoor activities. Volunteers, in pairs, set up, demonstrate and run outdoor arts and crafts and other activities at the outside entrance of Central Library, encouraging people of all ages to participate in the activity.
Program Goals
- Promote Library spaces as a safe and welcoming environment/destination for all ages
- Support Library staff in facilitating dynamic, interactive learning
- Increase patron satisfaction
Length
Spring / Summer
Two- to three-hour shifts once per week for four months

Volunteer Qualifications
- Able to work independently
- Able to communicate in English
- Enjoys the outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Outgoing and friendly personality
- Enjoys learning new things and sharing their knowledge
- An interest in arts and crafts
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Attend an orientation and training session
- Set up, demonstrate, and assist the public with an activity or craft, and clean-up of the activity
- Actively engage the public on the street and encourage them to participate in the activity.
- Interact with stakeholders in a friendly and respectful manner
- Abide by the Volunteer Standards of Conduct
