Outdoor Activity Volunteer

Overview

The warm weather is coming, and the Library is going outside to welcome it!  Volunteers, in pairs, set up, demonstrate and run outdoor arts and crafts and other activities at the outside entrance of Central Library, encouraging people of all ages to participate in the activity.

Program Goals

Promote Library spaces as a safe and welcoming environment/destination for all ages
Support library staff in facilitating dynamic interactive learning
Increased patron satisfaction

Length

Spring / Summer
2 – 3 hour shifts once per week for four months
Event dates and times vary

Volunteer Qualifications

Able to work independently
Able to communicate in English
Enjoys the outdoors in varying weather conditions
Outgoing and friendly personality
Enjoys learning new things and sharing their knowledge
An interest in arts and crafts

Volunteer Responsibilities

Attend an orientation and training session
Setup, demonstrate and assist the public with an activity or craft, and clean-up of the activity
Actively engage the public on the street and encourage them to participate in the activity.
Interact with stakeholders in a friendly and respectful manner
Abide by the Volunteer Standards of Conduct

Training

Two-hour group training
