TD Read With Me

Overview

Help a young reader in Grades 1 to 6 discover the magic of reading. Volunteers share literacy-based games and fun books and support children one-on-one to foster a lifelong love of reading.

Program Goals

  • Deepen interest and reading skills for young readers
  • Instill confidence and desire for lifelong learning
  • Provide a fun and creative learning environment

Length

Throughout the year
One-hour program
Weekly

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient and reliable
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Attend an orientation and training session
  • Support participants in their literacy goals
  • Maintain a supportive, fun, and enriching environment
  • Participate in the program for a minimum of one year

Training

A 5.5-hour training session covering program materials
