Overview

Library Ambassador volunteers greet patrons, make them feel welcome and help them get to where they are going within New Central Library.

Program Goals

  • Showcase the features and spaces of New Central Library
  • Promote New Central Library as a safe, welcoming environment and destination for all ages
  • Increase patron satisfaction

Length

Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer
As needed
Up to three-hour shifts

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Able to work independently
  • Fluent in English 
  • Outgoing and friendly personality
  • Enjoys learning new things and sharing their knowledge
  • Enjoys interacting with all types of people
  • Able to move about the building for the duration of their shift

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Attend an orientation and training session
  • Greet patrons and help them find their way within New Central Library
  • Speak to patrons about the great spaces in New Central Library
  • Share Library information such as maps and brochures
  • Interact with stakeholders in a friendly and respectful manner
  • Abide by the Volunteer Standards of Conduct

Training

  • Attend a Library General Tour and an Architecture Tour
  • On-site orientation/training session provided by community library staff
