Help engage children (ages three and under) and their families in activities during Colossal Calgary Playdates and Baby’s Big Playdates. Play builds the foundation for a lifetime of learning. It contributes to brain development and is one of the best ways for children to build language and literacy skills. Families that attend the Playdates participate in interactive and exploratory play using simple objects that could easily be found at home.
Playdate Volunteers, who are part of the Special Events volunteer program, facilitate play, both singly or in pairs, with children and their caregivers by helping to set up and run activities which are provided and directed by Library staff as well as assisting with cleanup at the end of the program.
Program Length: Two- to three-hour shifts
Volunteer positions are available at Central, Country Hills, Fish Creek, Nose Hill, Seton, Shawnessy, and Signal Hill libraries. If you're interested in volunteering, please complete an application and we will contact you as soon as possible.
