Book Discussion Groups
Foster a love of reading and build community by facilitating a Book Discussion Group for adults, teens or tweens at the Library.
Work with Library members one-on-one to improve their job searching skills.
Help teens develop computer coding skills that lay the foundation for web, app and game design.
Help Library members one-on-one with their basic computer questions.
Early Literacy Volunteer Corps
Set up and run fun activities in our Early Learning Centres for families with kids up to age five. Activities are provided by staff.
ESL Conversation Club
Help new Canadians improve their English language conversation skills.
ESL Writing Club
Help newcomers with reading, writing and grammar skills.
Deliver Library materials to those who are unable to visit the Library due to health or mobility challenges.
Integrated School Support Program
Help Library staff facilitate games and activities to foster lifelong learning skills and keep students engaged after-school, on-site, at selected schools.
Help an adult with low literacy skills develop basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.
Libraries in Residence
Bring the Library to those who can’t come to us. Set up “mini-libraries” in seniors’ residences or continuing care facilities and/or use book trolleys to provide “room service” to residents.
Represent the Library at community events throughout the city as our chameleon mascot “Curious” or act as the mascot’s handler during public events.
Help students and their families as they complete numeracy quests throughout the library.
Use your musical skill to help aspiring and beginner musicians individually and in small groups as they learn to play a musical instrument.
Help students in Grades 5 to 9 with their homework, and foster good study habits to inspire lifelong learning.
Help greet guests, provide information, and complete other tasks at special events at the Library.
Visit dayhomes around Calgary and share great books and toys with kids and caregivers aboard the Story Truck!

Help a struggling reader in Grade 1 to 6 discover the magic of reading by sharing fun books and literacy games.
