Early Literacy Volunteer Corps
We need several new Early Literacy Volunteers at libraries throughout the city. Volunteers set up and run fun activities in our Early Learning Centres for families with kids up to age five. Activities are provided by staff.

Career Coaching
Work with Library members one-on-one to improve their job searching skills. 

codeTeen
Help teens develop computer coding skills that lay the foundation for web, app and game design.

Computer Technology
Help Library members one-on-one with their basic computer questions.

ELL School Success
Help newcomer children in Grades 1 to 3 with their English language skills.

ESL Conversation Club
Help new Canadians improve their English language conversation skills.

ESL Writing Club
Help newcomers with reading, writing and grammar skills.

Homebound Readers
Deliver Library materials to those who are unable to visit the Library due to health or mobility challenges.

Integrated School Support Program
Help Library staff facilitate games and activities to foster lifelong learning skills and keep students engaged after-school, on-site, at selected schools.

Learning Advantage
Help an adult with low literacy skills develop basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Libraries in Residence
Bring the Library to those who can’t come to us. Set up “mini-libraries” in seniors’ residences or continuing care facilities and/or use book trolleys to provide “room service” to residents.

Library Docent
Share Calgary’s story with the public by giving tours of exhibits and library spaces, such as Engine 23, Central Library’s Early Learning installation.

Math Quest
Help students and their families as they complete numeracy quests throughout the library.

Music Coaching
Use your musical skill to help aspiring and beginner musicians individually and in small groups as they learn to play a musical instrument.

Outdoor Activity Volunteers
Volunteers, in pairs, set up, demonstrate and run outdoor arts and crafts and other activities at the outside entrance of Central Library.

School Support
Help students in Grades 5 to 9 with their homework, and foster good study habits to inspire lifelong learning.

Special Events
Help greet guests, provide information, and complete other tasks at special events at the Library.

TD Read With Me
Help a struggling reader in Grade 1 to 6 discover the magic of reading by sharing fun books and literacy games.
