This simple tool lets authors — aspiring and otherwise — create their own print-ready eBooks. Once you’ve created your file, you can submit your book to the Indie Author Project for others to enjoy, or use the file to send to traditional publishers.

Getting started is easy. Fill out the short online form to let us know reading preferences and the age of the reader (ages 0 – 18+), and our knowledgeable staff will hand-pick titles for a custom book bag based on your personal interests. You will receive a phone call when your book bag is ready for pickup at your preferred location.

Request Build a Book BagRelais allows you to request titles from across the province, or you can apply for a TAL card or ME card to borrow items in-person at libraries across Alberta.
Major multinational publishers are placing restrictions on digital titles, and public libraries face excessively high prices and restrictive purchasing models for both digital audiobooks and eBooks. Libraries lend digital copies just like physical books — on a one-to-one basis — but the cost for digital copies is exponentially higher. This means you may find yourself waiting a very long time to borrow digital titles.
Each bag contains 10 copies of a title, sample discussion questions, information on how to read a book for discussion, and how to lead a discussion. The loan period is six weeks, and you can have two bags out at a time.
Please return the bag with all items to a staff member when finished; the bags do not fit in the book return chute.
