Computer programming for kids

Learning about coding helps kids develop problem-solving and logic skills, and practice persistence.

Kids ages six to nine will learn the basics of coding and create their own game in Coding Buddies. This program is offered at a number of Library locations and requires registration.

Kids ages 10 to 12 will learn to create their own game, design a website, and more in Code Club, with instruction designed for beginner coders. This program is offered at a number of Library locations and requires registration.

We use the same two workbooks in both Coding Buddies and Code Club. Start with the Beginner book, and when you have completed that (or if you have taken the program before), move on to the Advanced book.

These self-guided online modules are from Code.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping every kid learn about computer science, and are provided under a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 Unported license.
