Call for Indigenous Dancers

The Library is seeking Indigenous talent to help us celebrate National Indigenous History Month

Indigenous dancers are invited to take part in Calgary Public Library’s mini powwow on Saturday, June 4, at Memorial Park Library, as part of opening ceremonies for National Indigenous History Month. The powwow will take place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.   

Men, Women, Two-Spirit, teens, children, and tiny-tots are invited to showcase their dance styles. Dance categories include Traditional, Grass, Fancy, Jingle, and Chicken. The first 20 dancers in any Adult category to register will receive a small stipend for their participation. Dancers must be registered to receive a stipend. Teens and children will receive a gift. 

Grand Entry will begin place at 1:00 pm. Dancers can arrive at Central Memorial Park (1221 2 St SW) between 11:30 am and 12:45 pm. Find location information, including how to Memorial Park Library.
