Need fresh ideas, information, or insight? The School Support Librarian offers office hours to support educators by answering questions related to resources for remote learning, virtual field trips to the Library, and virtual classroom programs.
Grade 3
One hour
Staff and a Calgary Police officer visit participating schools monthly to read aloud to students and talk about the role of police in the community. A selection of books is brought to each session for students to borrow until the following month.
This program is full for the 2019–20 school year. Please check back in May 2020 for information on how to apply for the 2020–21 school year.
Grades 4 – 6
One hour
Students will learn basic online research skills and media literacy by using Library Digital Resources for science and social studies topics. This program is available in October/November and February/March at your school using your laptops or at Library locations using our computers.
Grades 5 – 12
Program length varies
Students can uncover the life of a Calgary soldier during the First World War using primary and secondary sources from our local history collections and Library and Archives Canada. This program is offered in schools and at Central Library.
