Calgary Public Library is helping increase access and remove barriers to arts and culture in our community through an exciting new partnership with Contemporary Calgary art gallery.
The Contemporary Calgary Art Pass is an interactive book that can be checked out at all Library locations, giving Library patrons free access to visit Contemporary Calgary with the opportunity to add their own creations to the book.
Call for 2024 Author in Residence
Artists, community groups, and organizations are invited to submit their work (all mediums including photography) for consideration to be displayed at community libraries.
Newcomer Artist in Residence
Han Sungpil, Calgary Public Library’s 2024 Newcomer Artist in Residence, strives to understand the world’s diversity by exploring nature, discovering sublime elements of beauty, and interpreting mundane worlds that have been sources of his inspiration.
Indigenous Artist in Residence
Mackenzie is a performer, drummer, tourism entrepreneur, philanthropist, and advocate for at-risk youth. Mackenzie is also an avid acrylic artist and traditional crafts artisan.
Storyteller in Residence
Marie's experience in storytelling began at the Scottish Storytelling Centre. When she returned to Calgary she began performing and facilitating workshops. Her works consists of the acclaimed documentary "Wear Your Pink."
Historian in Residence
Tess has a wealth of experience in queer and women’s history and is working at the Galt Museum & Archives in Lethbridge. Tess is committed to promoting accessibility and diversity in historical narratives.
Children’s Illustrator in Residence
Sumin Choi is a graphic designer and muralist. Her creations fuel imagination and instill a love for reading in kids.
Author in Residence
Elizabeth Haynes is a Calgary-based Author and Speech-Language Pathologist. Her work includes poetry, short stories, novels and memoirs.
Musical Artist in Residence
Mirabelle Jien is a self-producing singer, songwriter, flutist, and composer from Alberta.
Influencer in Residence
Chanry Thach is a social media influencer and digital marketing specialist who has helped numerous brands connect to their audience.
Newcomer Artist in Residence
Sahar Hakimi is a visual artist from Tehran, Iran. Her artworks are inspired by women and the beauty of routine life.

Opera 212 is a series of programs offered in partnership between the Library and Calgary Opera, which brings the opera to all of Calgary’s 212 communities. Appreciate opera in hands-on, family friendly workshops including mindfulness, singing, dancing, and more.
Rozsa Arts at the Library brings artists to the Library for free performances and workshops, giving Calgarians access to a variety of arts and culture experiences. Find performances including music, dance, puppetry, drama, and oratory and circus arts at your nearest Library!
