Students in grades 4 – 6 can learn to think like historians and genealogists with these classroom resources. Use these lesson plans, presentations, and resources from Calgary’s Story to investigate our shared past and learn about the lives of soldiers from Calgary and area with your students. 

How to use these resources with your class 

The following resources have been curated by our librarians and Calgary’s Story staff. They connect to Alberta Social Studies and Language Arts curriculum. Each slide deck uses similar historical and critical thinking skills but explores the story of a different WWI veteran. Notes in the slide decks include inquiry-based questions (in italics) which educators may use to prompt students.
