Wood’s Homes has been recognized with the I Partner With My Public Library Award for collaborating with Calgary Public Library on the Wellness Desk.
The Wellness Desk provides free, drop-in, and on-demand mental health and addictions support, health information, and referral services from Wood's Homes crisis counsellors at Central, Crowfoot, and Shawnessy Libraries. Over 99 per cent of individuals using the Wellness Desk said they got the help they needed, and over 97 per cent said they had a clear next step.
Out of 61 entries, Wood's Homes was one of 11 winners in North America that are being recognized with the I Partner With My Public Library Award. This recognition is a testament to the commitment Wood’s Homes has made to providing accessible mental health support for Calgarians through the Library.
“This is a partnership we are so proud of,” says Heather Robertson, Director of Service Design and Innovation at Calgary Public Library. "Libraries are community connectors, with extensive reach and a goal to remove barriers and increase access to services and supports that help people to reach their potential. However, libraries aren’t the experts in navigating the mental health crisis communities are facing — skilled, dedicated, and compassionate organizations like Wood’s Homes are.”
Congratulations to our partners at Wood’s Homes!
