Art and Community Circuit Volunteer

What will you do?

Guide community walking tours designed to explore neighbourhoods using a script provided by Library staff. Walks are focused on civic art, history, or nature. Current walks include: Downtown Library Walking Tour, East Village; Downtown Library Walking Tour, Memorial Park; Memorial Park Historical Walking Tour.

Program Length: One hour

Volunteer Qualifications

  • Interest in Calgary’s communities, art, local history, nature or other related topics
  • Physically able to walk for an extended period of time on various surfaces including pavement, rock, gravel and grass.
  • Fluent in English
  • Comfortable leading a tour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accommodate a diversity of backgrounds and skill levels

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Attend an orientation and training session
  • Individually, or in collaboration with other volunteers, lead tours following the guidelines and using the content information provided by Library staff
  • Be familiar with the information related their assigned walk
  • Abide by the Volunteer Standards of Conduct
